During the week 27th November to 3rd December we would like to encourage each of you to focus on prayer for specific areas of church life. The church will be open for prayer at the times shown on the Advent prayer leaflet, or you might like to pray at home for these suggestions…. but don’t feel constrained by them and do listen for God’s voice. We would like to hear your responses and thoughts from prayer. There is a box in the St John’s chapel to put your ideas and responses in, or a place to add them to the prayer wall in there if you don’t mind sharing them with everyone.
Monday 28th Vision.
Pray for discernment of God’s will and direction. Pray especially for Adrian, his team and the PCC to hear God’s voice and lead us in it.
Tuesday 29th Worship & Discipleship.
Give thanks for those who lead us in worship. Pray that our worship would become increasingly nourishing for our lives as followers of Jesus. Ask God’s blessing on Anthony, our director of music; the choir and the worship bands and pray that we would all walk more closely with Jesus so that God’s name is glorified.
Wednesday 30th Children’s and Youth work.
Give thanks for the leaders of Junior church and for James, our youth worker. Pray for our children and young people as they discover the joy and the challenges of being a Christian.
Thursday 1st December Mission.
Give thanks for the work of all that takes us out into the community. Pray that we would become increasingly bold in sharing our faith with others.
Friday 2nd Building and Finance.
Give thanks for the resources that we have been given and pray that we would be generous in using them for God’s glory. Pray for wisdom for all those who help us with our building and finances especially our Wardens, Naomi and Keith and others who care for the building. Give thanks for and pray for Stephanie, our Administrator, as she serves us.
Saturday 3rd Pastorates and All the Church Groups.
Give thanks for our groups and their leaders. Pray that God would draw us together as a fellowship in witness and service. Pray that we would serve one another, pray for one another, continue to grow in love for one another and witness together.
Pray all week for guidance on how the PCC might move forward in these new areas: website outreach, men’s ministry and outreach, north aisle re-ordering, an informal worship service, loneliness in the parish, Ickenham Festival, Olympics outreach. Please continue to pray for Ignite Youth Community and the Ickenham Park visiting.
