Flower rota 2021 Church Flowers 2021

Our main aim is to keep the church well decorated for the main church festivals when most of the team work together. In the past we coped with many weddings, often 3 on one day, sometimes changing the colour of the roses between services to please the brides! Now with fewer weddings and only the Garden of Remembrance available for burials, we provide more flowers for remembrance of loved ones on anniversaries and birthdays etc. With these donations we are able to give solace to the bereaved and pleasure to the congregations whilst enjoying working with lovely flowers.

Over the years we have organised flower festivals during Ickenham Festival week – a big one every 4 years and a more modest event in between. Our last most ambitious one was “The Creation with Stories from the New Testament” in 2004. In 2006 the Uxbridge and Ickenham Floral Art Society celebrated its Golden Anniversary – many of our members belong to this – and it was decided to unite in a Flower Festival, to pool our talent and the costs especially as we are all getting older and less able. In 2008 we again joined up to produce “Aspects of Ickenham”.

We usually have 3 people on duty each Friday morning, the rota list appearing in the church porch. We would welcome new members and will always give help or hold a workshop if required – complete beginners are very welcome.
