Do you like music?
Would you like to join a choir and enjoy performing good music? It is a unique experience that will stay with you for the rest of your life.
Choir Practice is on Friday nights from 7.30pm until 8.30pm and on Sundays the whole choir leads the services at St. Giles'.
Places are also available in the choir for adults who sing Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass. (Practices on Friday evenings, 7.30pm – 9.00pm). Previous singing experience is not essential. We cover a wide range of music of all styles.
Activities
- - Training in singing and reading music
- Leading the singing in the service each week at St Giles
- A traditional choral evensong on the second Sunday each month
- The chance to sing in Royal School of Church music choir festivals
- Possible visits to sing in cathedrals (such as St Paul’s cathedral in London)
Extras
- - Pocket money (for youngsters) at a rate dependent on age and skill
- Extra money for singing at weddings
Moving on
Many young members of our choir have gone on to achieve distinction at University and in their various careers. The skills of presentation, communication and working with adults learned as a choir member are invaluable for later life.
