Explorers
When? Every Sunday @ 9.45am (except for the 1st Sunday of each month when we go into the Family Service in church)
Where? In the St Giles' Church Hall
Who? Anyone between 7 and 11 years old
Aims? To learn together in a fun and stimulating environment what it means to be a disciple of Jesus in the 21st Century.
How? Each week we have games, stories, quizzes and the opportunity to make things plus take part in a play or mime. There is a theme each week based on a Bible story and there is opportunity to work together and individually.
We have a 'trailblazer' each week for you to take home with more quizzes, codes, word searches and sometimes things to make and do
Each month, our magazine 'Explorer Express' tells us about forthcoming events and it includes a quiz page - and there are prizes!

Other stuff
Christmas - each Christmas we take part in a Christmas activity in the Church or church hall. We have refreshments afterwards. Everyone has a great time. On the morning of Christmas Eve, we sing carols in the village and raise money for 'Save the Children'.
Lent - In Lent each year we are given a tube of Smarties - we eat the Smarties and fill the tubes with 5p, 20p and £1 coins. Recently, we have collected for the Hillingdon Manor Autistic School, the RNIB Sunshine Home in Northwood, disadvantaged children in Romania, 'U-can-ask angels' (local charity of children with communication disorders) and the Sara Marie Foundation.
Shoeboxes - Some years, just before Christmas, we fill shoeboxes with all sorts of useful and nice things and send them off to less fortunate children in Romania.
Posada (which means 'inn') - Each year during Advent (the four weeks before Christmas), small figures of Mary and Joseph travel each day from house to house, reminding us of how we can invite Jesus into our homes and lives.
Olympic Games - we have our own mini olympics in the church hall just before we break up for the Summer.
Coffee mornings - We have a coffee morning in the spring where we display all the great and talented stuff we have done during the year.
Arts & crafts - we make models, pictures and cards from all different materials. We make friezes and have even made our own passports!
Projects - We do group projects from time to time on 'Our wonderful world', ' The Bread of life', 'Animals in the world', and 'the seasons'.
